Phillip L. Swaim


Phillip L. Swaim, age 65 passed away on April 5, 2017 after many months of suffering with COPD. Phillip was born in Ajo, Arizona to Dorothy and James Swaim. Phillip was raised in Arizona and New Mexico where he lived with family. He attended Maryvale High School in Phoenix and graduated from Socorro High School in Socorro New Mexico. Phillip was a multitasking carpenter for the AT&SF and BNSF Railway and spent the majority of his time in the northern part of the state. He was proud to be a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his mother, his father, sister Susan Vallone, and brother Damon Swaim. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Beveryn Lemons Swaim as well as nieces and nephews. A memorial will be held at a later date. His ashes will be spread in Ajo at his request. Phil was a good man with a big heart and a true original. As a youth he was a daredevil. As a young man he was a real cowboy. As a man he was a railroader. He will be greatly missed.
