Charles Lunt, was a man whose life was defined by unwavering devotion to his family and his faith, he passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, in Apache Junction, Arizona. Born on October 31, 1950 in the farming community of Duncan, Charles carried the hardworking spirit of his rural roots with him throughout his 75 years.
His greatest love story began in Tempe at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he met Myra Lynn Cloer. Their journey started with a first date at the State Fair and a deep, immediate connection. While Lynn was recovering in the hospital, Charles visited her every single day, proving his devotion early on. By Christmas, after their first kiss, he told his family he had found "the one." On Valentine’s Day, he offered her a promise ring, which blossomed into a beautiful marriage on June 14, 1975.
Together for over 50 years, Charles and Lynn built a life centered on service and an expansive definition of family. Charles honorably served in the U.S. Army at Fort Bliss before settling in Mesa, where he spent much of his career as a taxi and limo driver, navigating the roads of the Valley with a friendly word for everyone.
Charles’s heart was big enough to hold many children; he was a devoted father to Andrew Lunt, Eran, Dale, Shannon, and William (O’Donnal), and Elaine, Trista, and Margo (Preslar). He joins his son, James O’Donnal , in eternal rest, along with his parents Clessa and Waldon, and sisters, Louise and Barbara.
In his retirement, Charles found a special calling in genealogy, spending countless hours indexing historical records for Family Search, ensuring that the legacies of others would never be forgotten. He is survived by his beloved Lynn, his sister Florene, and his five brothers—Jay(Jana), Keith (Nettie), Barry (Kathy), Anthony (Barbie), and Harold (Carmen)—along with a large, loving extended family. Charles leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, a "promise" kept for five decades, and a life lived in service to those he loved.
A private ceremony will be held in Charles’s honor for family on April 4th, 2026.
