Diane Wegner
Diane Wegner passed away peacefully on December 10, 2018 in Chandler, Arizona surrounded by family and friends. She was the daughter of James Elliott and Lois Whatley. She was born in Tempe, Arizona on February 2, 1949 and was raised on the Whatley Family Farm on 48th Street and University Drive. She attended Tempe High School and graduated from Arizona State University with a B.A. in English. She worked for many years as an accounts payable supervisor and was always dedicated to her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband Edward of nearly 38 years and daughters Jennifer Wegner (fiancé Doug Betancourt), Kerri Murawski (John), Sara Roberts (Brion), five grandkids (Rebecca, Cody, Alexandra, Avery, and DeLainee), and one great grandson (Koa). She is also survived by two brothers, Jimmy (Robin) and Tommy (Carolyn), one sister Bonnie (Tom); six nieces and nephews (Kati, Marc, Megan, Todd, Laura, and Amy), one grand niece (Megan), and numerous aunts, cousins, and their children and grandchildren.
She was greatly loved by her large extended family and numerous friends, including the members of the Sweet Potato Queens. She was the lead singer of DaDa and Snot Puppies and Pam and the Eggs. She loved travel, especially her trips with husband Ed to Hawaii and France and their many cross country “Fly-Ins” in their private plane. She also loved family trips to the Phoenix Zoo and big gatherings of family and friends. She was an avid reader, loved movies and crossword puzzles, and was a great cook. She had unconditional love for family and friends, and is greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A private family memorial will be held on Thursday, December 13.
