Arline Ann Frie (Patten/Hunninghaus)

Arline was born on May 7, 1948 in Jefferson City and grew up in Freeburg, Missouri. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, she passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 1, 2018.

Arline will be fondly remembered for devotion to her family, her community, and her country. Most notable in her career was her pioneering spirit. Arline was one of the first female truck drivers in the nation during the trucking boom of the '70's. Arline and her late husband Ronald L. Hunninghaus won truck driving team of the year in 1978. Her adventurous spirit shows itself in her enjoyment of skydiving, body building, and butterfly collecting. She loved to read Louis L'Amore novels, and had a fondness for Tom Selleck, Burt Reynolds, and Sam Elliot. She enjoyed good fried chicken and creme brûlée, and hated blueberries and honey.

Giving up items of comfort to support her community and country were of primary concern to her. She donated money, time, and supplies to many organizations such as the VFW, POW-MIA, Native American Widows and Children, the Wounded Warrior Project, DAV, and shelters for expectant teen mothers. A devoted Catholic, she never forgot her duty to God and her fellow man.

Arline was a kind hearted, hardworking, patriot that provided an excellent example of loyalty and dedication for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She taught us the value of life.

Arline was preceded in death by her parents William H. and Johanna M. Patten (Wieburg), sisters Mary J. Bonny (Patten), and Beatrice W. Dunn (Patten), and brothers Donald P. and Alvin A. Patten, as well has her late husband Dale Frie.

She is survived by her sister Helen G. Weed (Patten), her brother-in-law Henry Weed, her brother Raymond E. Patten, and her late brother Alvin's wife, Sandra Patten.

She is also survived by her son Kevin M. Matheny and his family Hunter M. Matheny, Bailey M. Gile, and Baby Matheny (due May 2019).

She is survived additionally by daughter Cynthia R. Morrow (Matheny), her husband Timothy Morrow, and their sons Jonathan M. McCanless, James M. McCanless, Zachary W. McCanless, Destiny Troutz, and baby Jared A. McCanless.

And finally, daughter Karen G. Matheny-Totlis and her family, Andrew Totlis, Jacob Graham, Kiran Conner, and Danielle A. Klun and her husband Chad J. Klun, and child Nyxis A. Klun.

Mom, you will be missed every day. As a beloved mother to three, grandmother to six, and great grandmother to three, you are in our hearts always. A life well lived
