Dmitry Sullivan

Dmitry Stefan Sullivan, a resident of Mesa, AZ, (known to his friends and family as Dima), died unexpectedly on August 19, 2016 at the age of 24 while at home.

Dima is survived by his Mother, Debra Sullivan; his Grandmother, Eleanora Young; both of Mesa, AZ, and his extended family in Arizona, North Carolina, Alaska, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, and Kentucky.

Dima was born in Pskov, Russia on May 20, 1992. He was adopted and immigrated to America in 2002. He graduated from Red Mountain High School in 2011 and worked as a store manager at the Lutheran Thrift Shop. Although he was naturalized upon his entry into this country in 2002, he received his Certificate of Citizenship on August 15, 2012. He was very proud to be an American.

Dima was a multi-talented individual. He excelled at athletics such as soccer; long distance running, skateboarding, snow skiing, scuba diving, and other watersports. He also enjoyed music, photography, fishing, hiking, camping, and travelling. Some of his favorite destinations were Alaska, the British Virgin Islands, Mexico, Canada, Kentucky Lake, and the Grand Canyon.

Dima enjoyed people as much as a good adventure. It was important to him that others enjoyed the journey as much as he did. He was a devoted family member, and was known as a sweet, outgoing young man that smiled easily and always had a hug when you needed it. He was handsome yet humble, had the ability to laugh at himself, and was able to help others to find the humor around them. He was well-loved by his family and friends, and will be deeply missed.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 25 at Love of Christ Lutheran Church, at 1525 North Power Road in Mesa. A small reception for family and friends will immediately follow the service.
