Ruth Anne Hess

Ruth Anne Hess, beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 17,

2026, at the age of 82.

Ruth was born on December 18, 1943, in Sterling, Illinois, to Ruth and Edward Howard. She was a

woman of many talents and a true homemaker at heart, finding joy in creating things with her hands

and sharing them with others.

Ruth had a lifelong love of cooking and baking and was especially proud of being an Illinois State

Fair Baking Champion. She also enjoyed drawing and crafts, always finding creative ways to

make something beautiful and meaningful.

Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her son, Shane, and by her sister, Jean Walrath, and Jean’s

husband, Richard, along with family and friends whose lives she touched throughout the years.

Ruth’s creativity, warmth, and love will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who

knew her.
