Victor William DeMartini


Victor William DeMartini, aged 75, of Mesa, Arizona died on December 27, 2022 in Apache Junction, Arizona following a long illness.

He was born on February 20, 1947 to Victor and Barbara (Brown) DeMartini in Peekskill, New York.

Victor, served in the Army Corps of Engineers and did a tour of duty in Vietnam where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Good Conduct Medal. After his discharge, Victor attended Mercy College where he earned a BS degree in Fire Science in 1979.

He began his firefighting career in the Peekskill Fire Department as a driver and went on to work in other fire companies across the country, including the Columbia, Missouri Fire Department and the Apache Junction Fire Department where he served as Fire Chief. He taught at the Fire Training Center at the University of Illinois-Champaigne/Urbana and was a Fire Training Officer for Saudi Aramco, Saudi Arabia from 1992 until 1996. He loved to travel and visited many countries around the world. He was also a car and motorcycle enthusiast and spent many hours riding his favorite Harley Davidson.

Victor is survived by his ex-wife, Angela DeMartini and his sisters, Barbara (Norman) Smith and Brenda (George) Squires, nephews Zachariah (Tracy) Smith and Justin (Dulce) Smith and niece Molly (Theo) Karanikolas, and his grandnieces Savannah Smith, Scarlett Smith and grandnephews, twins Thadeus and Maximus Karanikolas.

He was predeceased by his parents.
