Phyllis Skowronski

1940-2025

Phyllis Skowronski was born in Boston, MA on March 30th, 1940. She was raised in Charlestown, MA in an Irish-Italian family that included her four brothers; Joseph, Dominic, Angelo, and Anthony. She is also a mother of five children; Michael, Deborah, Susan, Maryellen, and Thomas.

From a young age, Phyllis was called upon to help her family and she developed a heart for serving others. As a high schooler, she helped care for her disabled father while her mother worked. When she was a young mother to Michael, she also helped to raise her younger brother Anthony and he lived in her home.

Phyllis enjoyed doing things that were spontaneous. One of the favorite memories of a neighbor’s young son was the time when Phyllis arrived at their elementary school in Burlington, MA to dismiss them for the day and take Tommy, Maryellen, and two neighbor boys to go see the “Tall Ships” when they came into Boston Harbor.

After her son Michael went into the Air Force, Phyllis moved to Phoenix, AZ with her four other children. She continued to work hard to raise her family, and encouraged her children to pursue their education.

One of Phyllis’ best qualities was her capacity for helping others in times of need. She just seemed to have a special radar for zeroing in on ways in which she could assist someone during a difficult moment.

Phyllis is now resting in eternal joy with her son Michael, her mother Catherine, her father Angelo, her brothers Joseph, Dominic, and Angelo, her companion Mike Braden, and her niece Katie.

A graveside service for Phyllis is planned for Friday, October 24th, 2025, at 11am at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 2033 N 48th St, Phoenix, AZ 85008.

As a way to honor the dedicated caregivers who served Phyllis with kindness and compassion during her most vulnerable period, the family will be donating funds to the wonderful women at Mountain Vista Manor.

If anyone wishes to participate in giving donations to her caregivers in lieu of sending flowers, they can be sent to Zelle account: daglennon@yahoo.com. All donations collected will be given directly to her outstanding caregivers.
