Gayle Durward Bates

Gayle Durward Bates, age 75, passed away on February 3, 2026, in Gilbert, Arizona. He was born on September 16, 1950, in Tularosa, New Mexico. Gayle was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Jane Bates. He is survived by his children Ericka (Daisy) Bates, Andrea Hatrak, Jonathan (Sarah) Bates, Janette (Kyle) Reeves, Jacob Bates, and Charlotte (Chris) Lange; his grandchildren Kirja, Vanessa, Shaylee, Cote, Rylee, Bailey, Brexton, Ashlynn, Nixin, Jared, Austyn, and Henry; and his great-grandchildren Hudson and Leon. He was a skilled carpenter and took great pride in his work. He was well known for his strong work ethic and loyalty. He loved the freedom of the open road, especially when riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Those who knew him will remember his good sense of humor, kind and giving heart, and his willingness to help anyone in need. Service to others was not just something Gayle believed in, it was how he lived. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, beginning at 10:00a.m. at the LDS Church, located at 220 E Cullumber Ave, Gilbert, AZ 85234. Family and friends are invited to attend and share memories as they honor Gayle’s life and legacy.
