Dave Hiles, 82, passed away on November 10, 2025, in Mesa, Arizona. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Dave lived a full and adventurous life defined by service, hard work, and laughter.
Dave spent many years in law enforcement, rising from police officer to Chief of Police in St. Paul Park, Minnesota. After retiring, he became an entrepreneur. Most notably creating what is still known as The Park Café, in St. Paul Park.
He loved guns, poker, pool, cigars, and riding motorcycles, and he enjoyed traveling and living in many states before settling in Arizona, the place he finally called his home.
Dave is survived by his daughter Angela Ward (Steven); grandchildren Josette Vaidich (Chad), Nicolas Vaidich (Brittany), Nathaniel Schultz and Jessica Schultz; brothers Gary Hiles (Loni) and Greg Hiles; sisters Ginger Heath (Mike) and Gayle Kist (Mark); brother-in-law Jim Martin; daughter Deborah Schultz; grand pup Gitana.
And last but certainly not least, Patricia Sanchez – his angel on earth!
He is preceded in death by his father Melvin Hiles (Lila); mother Jeanette Higgins; sister Barbara Martin.
Dave will be remembered for his stories & his humor, but mostly for living life on his own terms.
A small private ceremony will be held to honor him. There will be no public service.
The family kindly asks that no money or gifts be sent. Instead, take a moment to thank a police officer today in his memory.
