Darrell DeWayne Mueller



Darrell DeWayne Mueller July 8, 1940 - January 22, 2024 Darrell DeWayne Mueller, age 83, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024, in Phoenix, AZ, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 8, 1940, in Columbus, NE, to the proud parents Emil J Mueller and Hulda M Cattau. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, and also by his in-laws Milt Wilke, Barb Sedlacek, and Crip Sedlacek, as well as his beloved granddaughter, Eliana Oguin. Although their loss weighs heavy on our hearts, we find solace in the cherished memories we hold dear. He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 wonderful years, Marygail Mueller. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Darrell's love and dedication extended to his daughters, Lisa Oguin and Jamie Mueller, who were his pride and joy. He treasured his role as a father and embraced every moment spent with his daughters, offering endless guidance and unconditional love. Darrell was a doting grandfather to Elizabeth Kelley (Nick), Isaac Oguin, Hannah Oguin (Damon Rasch), Alyssa Oguin, and Nelson Mueller. His face would light up with joy whenever he had the opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren. He was also blessed to be a great-grandfather to Christopher Kelley, Brooklyn Kelley, Denzel Rasch, and Eliana Rasch. His love and wisdom will forever be a guiding force in their lives. He held a special bond with his siblings, Don (Joanne), Marlene Wilke, and Dori Beecham (Ralph). Their shared memories and experiences formed an unbreakable bond, and Darrell cherished the moments spent with his brothers and sisters. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, who will always remember his kind heart and warm smile. Darrell's journey began as a farmer until 1984 when he transitioned into working with a number of insurance carriers. Upon retirement, he found fulfillment in his role at H&R Block, where he was awarded the prestigious title of Rookie of the Year. His dedication and work ethic were admired by all who knew him. A lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, Darrell found solace, strength, and community in his faith. He served on his children's school board, demonstrating his commitment to education and the growth of future generations. When he wasn't busy with work or community involvement, Darrell indulged in his passion for sports, particularly his beloved Huskers. He loved cheering on his team and would often gather with family and friends to watch games. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and playing cards. He had an unwavering patience that made him the best PA to his grandchildren, creating countless memories that will be cherished for generations. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Boys Town, an organization that held a special place in Darrell's heart.
