Philip Judd Carlson
Philip Judd Carlson (83), of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away on May 23rd, 2022. Born on April 21, 1939 in Aurora, Nebraska, Judd graduated from Northwestern University in 1961 with a degree in Radio and Television Broadcasting. During his successful Advertising and Marketing career, Judd worked for J Walter Thompson and Leo Burnett in New York and Chicago, McDonalds in New Orleans, and founded Carlson Preferred Mailings in St. Paul, MN. Judd adored all his children, enjoyed traveling the world, and was proud of earning his 30-year AA pin. An avid Formula One racing fan and classic car enthusiast, Judd loved owning a McClaren and Triumph. He couldn’t let a dog pass without receiving a petting or let a Westminster Dog Show go unwatched. Judd is survived by his wife Merilee Carlson of Scottsdale AZ; children Philip of Pittsburgh, PA, Victoria (Corey) Frank of Lake Zurich IL, Eric (Jeannie) Carlson of Bristol, IL, stepdaughter Gina (Tony) Coletta of Scottsdale AZ; grandchildren Sydney Wade/Kincade Frank, Alex/Taylor/Conner Carlson, step grandchildren A.J./Chase Coletta. Preceded in death by parents Herbert and Adelaide (Refshauge) Carlson and former wife Toni M Lokensgard, mother of Philip, Victoria, and Eric. Judd was an elegant man who will never be forgotten. Judd and Merilee are faithful members of La Casa de Cristo Church in Scottsdale AZ.
