Geneva Agnes Roggenbuck
Geneva Agnes Roggenbuck, 87, passed away on November 1, 2021, in
Gilbert, AZ. Born on July 30, 1934, in Williston, ND to Laurence Richard and
Agnes Marie (Henriksen) Gessner, Geneva grew up on the family farm near
Bainville, MT with her two younger siblings, Gerald and Gennet.
Geneva attended school in Bainville and graduated from Bainville HIgh
School in 1952. She next received her Standard Teaching Certificate from Minot
State Teachers College. Then her career as an educator began in a tiny one-
room school house in eastern MT.
In 1954 Geneva married Kenneth R. Halley. Two daughters, Lorraine and
LaVonne, were born of this union. The couple taught at numerous schools in MT,
ND, and Minnesota. While in MN, Geneva earned her Bachelor of Science
degree in Education from the University of Minnesota, Morris.
Minot, ND has always been home to Geneva; it's closer to family and she
was proud to be part of the Minot Public School system, until her retirement in
1999. At one time, she was teaching at the same elementary school where her
two grandchildren attended, and they rode to school together.
In retirement, Geneva found a love for traveling the country in a motorhome
with her husband, Lawrence (Larry) Richard Roggenbuck. Together they made
many friends on the road, eventually settling in Arizona at the Mesa Spirit RV
Park in Mesa. Gen loved the warm weather and visits from family. She was
notorious for always being on the search for the perfect purse and pair of shoes.
She will be forever remembered for the love she expressed by cooking delicious
homemade meals, creating lavish textile crafts, and most of all, by her sweetness.
Geneva is survived by her husband, Lawrence (Larry) Roggenbuck of Mesa,
AZ, daughter Lorraine (Jay) Jacobson of The Villages, FL, two grandchildren
Whitney (Kelby) Sundquist of Duluth, MN, and Dylan (Kimberly) Jacobson of
Minneapolis, MN, daughter LaVonne Halley of Mesa, AZ, sister Gennet Martin of
