Donetta Van Haren
Donetta Van Haren, 75, of Globe, Arizona, passed away peacefully July 5th, 2024 with her family at her home in Gilbert, Arizona. Donetta was born on September 25, 1948, in Santaquin, Utah, to Leroy and Donna Ewell. Donetta's journey began in Santaquin, but she spent the majority of her life in Globe, Arizona, a place she called home from junior high until her final days. It was at Globe High School where she met the love of her life, Roy Van Haren. Their union in 1967 blessed them with two children, Shawn (Valerie) and Tye (Mandy).
A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Donetta is survived by her two children, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and six siblings. She was predeceased by her parents, her
beloved husband, and three siblings.
Donetta's life was defined by her love for family, unwavering faith, and passion for helping others. She was known for her generosity, compassion, and relentless pursuit of knowledge. Donetta's love for education
led her to become a teacher after earning both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in education. She shared her enthusiasm for learning with countless students during her tenure in the Miami School District, teaching 5th and 6th grades, as well as Junior High and High School.
Beyond her dedication to education, Donetta found joy in the outdoors, whether camping, venturing on quad rides, or indulging in her creative pursuits like painting, crocheting, sewing, and quilting. She had
a zest for life, enjoying dance and song, and could always be found in the kitchen surrounded by friends and family.
Donetta's legacy will live on through the lives she touched and the lessons she imparted. Her dedication to her family and community was a testament to her beautiful soul, and her impact will be felt for generations
to come. Her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A viewing and funeral are scheduled to be held in Gilbert, Arizona on Saturday July 13th starting at 9:00 a.m. A celebration of life will be held at the Miami, Arizona LDS Ward building on Saturday, August 3rd. We welcome all to join in any way you can.
I’m so sorry for your loss! Your mom was so sweet! I always loved seeing her at the Ewell family Christmas party growing up. Her brother Steve is my grandpa. Your family will be in my prayers.
