Cathy Green

Cathy Green, 67, of Gilbert Arizona, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Hospice of the Valley Lund Family Home.

Cathy Ann Edwards was born June 27, 1956, to Matthew Edwards Jr. and Janet Masters Edwards in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Cathy was one of six children. She was always helping at home cooking, cleaning, and babysitting her younger siblings. She graduated from Oskaloosa Senior High with the class of 1974. In 1974 Cathy also married her high school sweetheart Dave Green and to this union, two daughters were born: Jacque and Kristi. Cathy was always a hard worker; her early work history includes retail and grocery. She was a talented seamstress making clothes for her family as well as to earn extra money.  She became a dental assistant working for Dr Ken Bowie and Dr Tom Bowie in Oskaloosa. Cathy had a successful career with Mary Kay Cosmetics becoming a sales Director and began her real estate career in Oskaloosa.

In 1998 Cathy moved with her family to Arizona where she continued her real estate career.  She became a managing broker for Century 21 and later for Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty.

Cathy was a friend, mentor, teacher, counselor, and coach to so many. She was a guiding light setting an example of kindness, generosity, wisdom, and faith for all who knew her. Her ability to love others had no limits. Her love and devotion for her family was apparent to all who knew her and her most favorite job of all was being the best Nana ever.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents; mother and father-in-law George and Helen Green; and brothers in law Timothy Green and Steven Rodgers.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years Dave Green; her children Jacque (Billy) Nerini and Kristi Green; her grandchildren Trent Taylor (Deanna) Ireland, Hannah (Al) Ireland, Catie Green, and Ivy Green; her siblings Tom (Carol) Edwards, Connie (Gary) McDonough, Don (DeeDee) Edwards, Mary (Mike) Huntington, and Jon (Penny) Edwards as well as sister-in-law Judy Rodgers. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Red Mountain United Methodist Church in Mesa Arizona. A viewing will be held prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. The service will be available for streaming on the Red Mountain United Methodist Church Facebook page or on the Red Mountain United Methodist Church YouTube channel. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of the Valley, The Creutzfeldt Jakob Foundation, or the Red Mountain United Methodist Church in Cathy’s name.
