Beverly Jean Smith

On Monday January 11th 2021 Beverly Jean Smith, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother peacefully passed away at the age of 89.

Beverly, whom everyone knew as Jean was born on May 22,1931 at home in Park City, Utah to Francis and Evelyn Carpenter. Her and her sister, Joye, were there only children. Jeans father died when she was 5 years old and her mom was left to raise her little girls by herself.

Jean was a fun loving, beautiful young girl who had a great sense of adventure. Her mom worked odd jobs to take care of her girls and Jean had lots of fun memories growing up in Park City even though times were tough.

She married the love of her life, Guy Richard Smith on January 9th, 1953. Together they had seven children: Guyla, Heather, Becky, Richard, Erica, Ginny and Tomi. Over the years they took in many foster children because Becky loved children and she was ill. Becky passed away in 1985.

She loved her family something fierce. She taught us as young children to be kind to everyone, to help others, always tell the truth, and to laugh and have fun. We knew of her love of the Savior by the way she lived her life. She enjoyed crocheting, going on vacations, and playing pranks on people. She also loved to clean. She was always helping others and taking people in who needed a place to stay.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Evelyn, her beloved husband Guy, and her dear sweet daughter Becky. She is survived by her sister and friend, Joye Handy, her six children, twenty grandkids, and 16 great grandchildren, She is also survived by many other family members and friends too numerous to list but not forgotten.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday. January 16th, 2021 at 10 am at the LDS church 234 N. Greenfield Road. Gilbert, Az. 85234

The family humbly requests that in lieu of flowers, family and friends can make a donation to Arizona Friends of Foster Care in honor of her many foster children.

There will be a livestream via zoom of the funeral available. Details will be posted on facebook on the Beverly Jean Smith Memorial group page.
