Arthur Rollen Bruce

A much loved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, and uncle, Art Bruce, 72, returned to the arms of our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 17th, 2022 surrounded by his family. Art was born March 15, 1950 in Fullerton, CA. His family moved to Las Vegas, NV when he was 10 years old. Art was the ultimate Boy Scout; always prepared. He graduated from Valley High School and followed in his father’s footsteps, joining the US Navy, where he became a Telecommunications Specialist on the USS Camden II during the Vietnam War. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1970. An avid outdoorsman, Art enjoyed fishing, waterskiing, and Scuba Diving. Once when he & a friend were diving near the Hoover Dam, they encountered a Catfish so big it could swallow a Volkswagen! He liked riding motorcycles, tying fishing lures, playing pool, poker, watching Blue Bloods and the 3 Stooges, Heinz Ketchup, and was an avid Star Trek fan!

Art’s love of fishing came from his Mom & Dad. Following his Naval career, he moved to Alaska and started a fishing guide business with his cousin Johnnie-san Harris. Art met his beloved wife Margaret at Boeing in Mesa, AZ, where they became friends, then fishing buddies, then husband & wife. When fishing, they would always compete for first catch of the day and largest fish. They loved fishing for Salmon. In their later years, Art & Margaret would spend winters in Queen Creek, AZ and Spring/Summer/Fall in Washington, where they were Camp Hosts at County Line Campground. They made many friends during their adventures and would teach them/coach them on how to fish! When Salmon season ended, they would return to Arizona to be with family. Art’s favorite saying to Margaret was “I’ll do it mañana!”

Art was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Rollen Bruce, Jr, his mother Dorothy Marion Bruce (Chauncey), and nephew, Christopher Alldredge. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Margaret, of Queen Creek, AZ, his beautiful daughters Anna River-John(Troy) and Julie Rivera-Rogers (Chuck), Six grandchildren Tynon, Samantha, Ryelle, Alec, Maia, and Charlee, and three great-grandchildren Gavin, Easton, and Urijah. Siblings include Linda Bruce-Alldredge (Shane), Robin Bruce, and Ron Bruce. Nieces/nephews are Shalin Carey, Bonnie Alldredge, and James Bruce Alldredge.

A military service will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona @ 23029 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024 on June 6th, 2022 at 11:00 AM, with reception to follow at 26715 s. 198th Place, Queen Creek, AZ 85142.
