Lee Broom


Lee Broom, beloved father, grandfather and friend passed away on August 2, 2020 at the age of 81. Lee was born June 12, 1939 in Edmond, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his parents Horace Dixie Broom and Sadie Hannah Marie Oakes Broom and brother, William Broom.

Lee grew up in Oklahoma. After a stint in the army, he married Donna Urdahl Broom on October 31, 1958 and together they had five children. Lee moved his family to Arizona in 1966. Lee had two subsequent marriages, Karen {Fisher} Peters and Terri Pavia. Lee lived most of his life in Scottsdale, Arizona where he was the owner of Lee Broom Gallery and Design for many years. Lee was a singer, a writer, a fundraiser, and a gifted interior designer and retail business owner. Lee served others by volunteering in the community. He volunteered at Sun Sounds of Arizona, Gallery@ City Hall, Central Arizona Shelter Services, and many others.

Lee is survived by his brother, Larry Oakes of Grove, Oklahoma, his children: Dixie (David) Powers, William (Eileen) Broom, Mary (Raymond) Adams, Candaice (Mark) Buoy, and Barry Wayne Pope, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lee’s motto in life was “Accept the Love and Pass it On’, Lee’s service was held privately by family. Donations to Sun Sounds of Arizona in memory of Lee Broom are encouraged.
