Curtis Walter Moreland

Curtis Walter Moreland, 63, of Mesa, Arizona passed away earlier this month. He was born on August 2, 1955 in Glendale, AZ. Survivors include his daughters, Pamala (Brian) Dempsey, Jennifer Moreland, and Rebecca (Michael) Akers; his sister, Holly Silkey; grandchildren Ethan Dempsey, Grace Dempsey, Charles Dempsey and Alyson Akers; and numerous nieces and nephews. Curtis graduated from Arizona State University with a double degree in accounting and computer science. He worked for many years as a computer programmer and systems engineer. One of Curtis’ greatest accomplishments was bringing joy to children. He often did this through his portrayal of Santa Claus (aka “the big guy”). He shared this talent and his love of the Christmas story through countless appearances at hospitals, charities, churches, and private events (often donating all proceeds to help children). Curtis also worked tirelessly with children touched by grief and divorce through New Song Center for Grieving Children and Cornerstone Church Divorce Care for Kids.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, April 27th, 10 a.m. in the Student Center at Cornerstone Church, 1595 S Alma School Road, Chandler, AZ 85286.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to New Song Center for Grieving Children (https://www.hov.org/donate/) or the Cornerstone Church of Chandler, Arizona (https://pushpay.com/g/cornerstoneonline?src=hpp).
