Nancy Gail Williams

Nancy Gail Williams, 79, of San Tan Valley, Arizona passed away April 14, 2019. Born Nancy Gail Truitt on October 23, 1939 in Denton, Texas. Nancy is preceded in death by her husband Roy H Williams, her parents Jack and Juanita Truitt and her brother Jack F Truitt.

 

Nancy is survived by her three children Julie Williams, Trudy Walgrove and Roy Williams Jr and her grandchildren Sean Walgrove, Rebekah Mullikin, Abigail Mullikin, Rachel Mullikin, and Liliana Artman. She is also survived by her brother Richard L Truitt and sister Sandy Truitt LaCour.

 

As a teenager; she spent summers in Norman, Oklahoma with her Grandmother Vivala, where she worked as a lifeguard. Swimming was her passion.

 

In 1957, Nancy met her husband Roy in Oakridge, Tennessee when he attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville; working as a co-op student. In May of 1958 Roy and Nancy eloped by greyhound bus and got married in Georgia. They were married for nearly 60 years.

 

Relocating to Manhattan Beach, California; Nancy attended UCLA as a PE major. She was a Girl Scout Troop leader from 1965 – 1974 in Houston, Texas and Randolph, New Jersey.

 

In 1993, Nancy received a certificate in Landscape Technology from Montgomery College in Montgomery County, Maryland.

Nancy and Roy operated a landscape business in Gaithersburg, Maryland called Garden Scapes. They also had Garden Scapes East in Accident, MD and Garden Scapes West in Tucson, Arizona. Landscaping was a shared passion; after moving to Arizona, they worked extensively with the Tucson Cactus and Succulent Society and Desert Legume Program of Tucson, Arizona.

Nancy lost her husband Roy, November 2017. Speaking often, about how she missed him.

 

Flying to Florida; August 2018, she spent 3 months there, going to the beach, enjoying tropical plants, and swimming again. Missing the desert; Nancy insisted on returning to Arizona and did so, the end of November 2018.

Nancy passed away peacefully in her sleep; which took everyone, by surprise. She always enjoyed times; spent with the Grandkids...

 

Grandma...we love you...FOREVER!
