Carolyn Sue McMillen

August 14, 2018

Carolyn Sue McMillen “Sue” passed away August 8, 2018 after a fall at home.  Sue was born December 9, 1935 in Edina, Missouri to Harley Benton “Doc” and Lorraine Green.  Sue and her cousins Betty, Ginny and Bob Garland were raised together, and remained best friends throughout their lives.  Sue played basketball and softball in high school, and was a great athlete until she contracted polio when she was 18.  Sue met Jim McMillen when she was a little girl and she went to his country school to welcome the students who were moving to the Catholic school in town.   Sue married the love of her life, Jim on August 27, 1955, and they were married for almost 60 years until Jim’s death in 2015.  Together they raised two children, Aderyn and Karen and were proud grandparents to James and Robert Berry, and their children Levi and Dean.  Sue worked at Motorola 52ndStreet for 28 years  where she was proud to have made important components in military armaments, and with Jim in his trailer business.  Sue is survived by Aderyn Lonigan, Karen and Dave Berry, James and Robert Berry, Levi and Dean Berry, and her little dog Winston.

Sue was a devout Catholic, who spent hours every day in prayer for her family and friends.  We are all blessed by her love and concern for us.   Sue loved to play cards, fish and laugh.  She loved to spend time with her grandsons James and Robert, and was happiest playing ball with her great grandson Levi.  She loved her son-in-law Dave, and was very proud of his military service.  Sue loved to discuss politics and watch westerns with Dave, and enjoyed their time together.  Sue was great friends and card partners with Robert’s fiancé Emma Obenberger, and looked forward to their wedding.  She is missed terribly by her little dog Winston, who gave her great joy and company.  Mom we will think of you every time we gather together, you were the heart and soul of our family.

If you had the joy of knowing our mom, you will know the word best describing her is love. She loved everyone unconditionally. Please share that love with others when thinking of her.
