December 1, 2017

Michael Keith Allen, born February, 9, 1943 in Vallejo, California to Norvell Keith and Maron Isabell Allen.

Mike is preceded by his wife, Linda, his daughter Julie Lemmon, his son – law Eddie Lemmon and his grandson Michael Lemmon, and so many friends, too numerous to

mention. Mike grew up in Springfield Oregon where he attended grammar and Junior High Schools.

He went on to graduate from Springfield High School in June 1960. He attended the University of Oregon in Eugene from September of 1960 to March 1962.

Mike left college to join the Air Force in August of 1962 and became a Photo Interpretation Specialist. Mike’s service included time in Viet Nam and he was honorably discharged from Active duty at Offutt Air Force Base in May 0f 1966. Mike applied for a job with United Airlines in June of 1966 in Omaha, Nebraska and was hired as an Air Freight Agent. Later, that same year he transferred to Seattle, Washington, as a Customer Service Representative. Mike was ultimately promoted to management and served initially as a Customer Service Supervisor and ultimately as Supervisor of Airport

Operations, Ramp Service. Over the course of Mike’s tenure as an Airport Operations Supervisor, he was twice asked to take on temporary duty assignments. His first assignment was acting Manager for Airport Operations in Vancouver, BC, Canada. The second assignment also as Acting Manager of Airport Operations in Beijing, China followed about a year later. Mike retired from United Airlines in October of 2001, after 35 years with United.

Mike had an interest in a variety of subjects and endeavors. He received his private pilot license in 1967.

Mike loved the Pacific Northwest, Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands. So much so, that he completed a USPS Boating Course and went onto own several small boats over the course of his time in Seattle. His friends nicknamed him “The Commodore” as he often promoted outings on his boat(s) on either Lake Washington or Puget Sound.

After retiring from United Airlines, Mike moved to Arizona. Golf became a wonderful pass time and he spent many lovely afternoons with friend both on the course and at the 19th hole. Mike quietly passed away on Sunday, August 20 th , 2017.

There will be a Celebration of Life to honor Michael this Spring 2018 in Washington state. We will share more details as soon as possible regarding day, place, and time. Michael’s family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support during this most difficult time.
