Karen Lott Thompson, 72, passed away on September 14, 2017 in Gilbert, AZ. She is our sweet wife and mother. She has lived a life of compassion and has exemplified this with all those who crossed her path.

Her funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at the LDS chapel 3310 S. Greenfield Road (adjacent to the Gilbert Temple) Gilbert, AZ . Bishop Sean Housley of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017 from 6-8 pm and 1 hour prior to the service at the chapel listed above. Burial Services will be held in Clarkston City Cemetery, Clarkston, Cache Valley, UT on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 10 a.m.

Karen Lott Thompson was born on January 1, 1945 in Ogden, Utah to James Vernile and Sadie Godfrey Lott. She was lucky to be born with her identical twin, Sharon Clark. Their older sisters Annette Jardine and Linda Ravsten along with their younger brother, Stanley J. Lott completed their family. Karen’s father, Vernile, passed away when she was 7 years old. The family then moved back to Utah live with and to be raised by their mom, Grandma and Grandpa Godfrey and many wonderful aunts and uncles.

Karen went to Clarkston Elementary School, Smithfield Junior High and North Cache High School.

She was married and sealed for time and all eternity to her sweetheart Glen Norman Thompson on March 7, 1963 in the Logan Utah Temple. Their love and devotion to each other has set an example for their family. They started their family and lived in Logan UT, Los Alamos NM, Alamosa CO, Brigham City UT, Longmont, CO and Mesa, AZ. They were blessed with eight wonderful children, two daughters and six sons. She devoted her life to raising and caring for them. She loved, Norm, her children, their spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to know what was going on in their lives, attend their special events and have pictures of them. She always made each child, grandchild and great grandchild feel special on their birthdays and holidays.

Karen was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served diligently in the Relief Society, Primary, Young Women and Scouting programs. She spent many hours in compassionate service to others and truly enjoyed doing so. Most recently she and Norm were able to work serve in the Gilbert, AZ temple.

She is preceded in death by parents, Vernile and Sadie Lott and her brother Stanley J. Lott.

Karen is survived by her husband, G. Norman Thompson and children, Angela (Paul) Stradling, Kirt (Carolyn), Scott (Mindy), Allen (Kristi), David (Ashli), Annette (Bryant) Peters, Cory (Michele)and Jeff (Leah), 31 bright and beautiful grandchildren, and 10 almost 11 great grandchildren. They were her love and her joy. She is also survived by her dear sisters, Annette Jardine, Linda (Stephen) Ravsten, Sharon (Jay) Clark; and her sisters-in-law Jeri Lott (Stan - deceased), Shirleen (Denzel) Clark, Beth (Vinson – deceased) Williams and Venna (Kenneth) Balls.

We would like to thank the Hospice of the Valley nurses, Jessica, Jeri and Marissa for their service and care for Karen through these last few weeks.

Karen was a wonderful wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed. Her family will always remember her with love.
