Arlene Ida Miller


Arlene Ida Miller, age 91, went home to the arms of her Lord on Friday, February 17, 2017 at the home of her daughter, Joyce, in Chandler, AZ. That day would have been her 72nd wedding anniversary to Marion Miller, the love of her life. She and Marion married February 17, 1945 and had five children, Marvin Miller (Denise) of Burton, IL, twins Janice Welsh (Mark) and Joyce Voyles (Mark), both of Chandler, AZ, Marcia Sharp (Greg) of Campbellsville, KY, and Kent Miller (Lisa) of Chandler, AZ, all who survive her. She was born May 3, 1925 in Payson, IL to Fred and Mayme Wagner Loos who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marion, as well as her brother, Wilfred Loos, sisters, Evelyn Eftink, Ethel Miller, and Carol Sporey. She is survived by her children, 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren with another due in two weeks, one brother, Frederick Loos (Connie), as well as sister-in-law, Norma Loos, brother-in-law, Otis Miller, and great aunt, Hilda Loos West.

Arlene and Marion, who had been farmers in Burton, IL, moved their family to Tempe, AZ in 1956 due to Marion's health. They remained there until his death in 1992. Arlene returned to Quincy that summer and began volunteering at RSVP and worked until October, 2014. She had 22 years of service logging 3,647 hrs of volunteer work. She worked at the hospitality house for 13 yrs and delivered "Meals on Wheels" for 9 years. She took people to Drs appts, helped with the Salvation Army Angel tree and so many other activities. She was also on the Quincy Senior Council for many years. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Quincy.

A memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church (1825 State Street, Quincy) at 11AM on Saturday, March 11th. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Calvary Baptist Church missions or the Hospitality House.
