Ezequiel Avila

Ezequiel Avila 69, passed away to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 12, 2016. He was born on March 20, 1946 in Mexico and served as a police officer. In 1976, he and his family moved to California where he worked for the Beverly Hilton Hotel for over 30 years. After his retirement, he moved to Arizona where he enjoyed gardening and wood carving. He made several beautiful walking canes, sling shots, and bows for his grandchildren.

Ezequiel will be best remembered for his integrity, love of family, story-telling, love for nature, his love for Mexican food, and his pet bird “Paco”. He had a natural “green thumb” when it came to gardening and could grow just about anything. Ezequiel was a tough man and feared nothing but also had a romantic side to him as he loved to write songs and poems.

He is survived by his wife Araceli, his children Marisol and Troy Culver, Cesar and Nidia Avila, Daniel and Maria Avila, Nancy and Javier Amaya, Veronica and Nelson Mendez, and Gabriela and Eduardo Valencia, and 16 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Fountain of Life Church located at 6056 E. Baseline Road Suite 137 Mesa, AZ 85206 on Wednesday January 20, 2016 from 9 am to 12 pm.
